NEWSLETTER ONE | Dear Greys… we count the days

Itโ€™s clear we’ve started a shift in perspective.

Dear Greys, we count the days
not as endings,
but as becoming.

Less waiting.
More knowing.
More of who we are.

We are not running outโ€”
we are arriving.

And we are not done yet.

If you were at the beginning with us back in 2024: ie the stories that positioned ageing as contribution not decline, that contribution still matters in 2026 and we ain’t going anywhereโ€ฆ and if you were, you will also know we always  encourage you to keep going.

Keep on keeping on is our motto!

This is our first newsletter.

We’re just getting started.

Recap. Hereโ€™s where we stand:

  • Weโ€™re now a team of writers, expanding the depth and diversity of the stories we can tell.
  • GreyMatter has delivered its first influencer collaborationโ€”a small but important signal that the platform is starting to attract external interest and commercial relevance.
  • Our email community has grown to 50 subscribersโ€”early-stage, but highly engaged.
  • Instagram has become a thriving channel, acting as our real-time newsroom and connection point.

What hasnโ€™t changed is our intent.

Weโ€™re actively working to shift how ageing is represented in community spaces, as well as in the media itself. Too often, later life is reduced to policy, pressure, or passive care. Weโ€™re offering a different narrative: visible, current, and grounded in real contribution.

Thatโ€™s why we valued being a regular contributor on Fiveaa Radio over Summer with Richard Pascoe, bringing an โ€œageing with inspirationโ€ perspective into mainstream conversation, where it can challenge assumptions in real time, not just in retrospect.

Weโ€™re still focused on reframing ageing through lived experience. People building, contributing, adapting. People still in motion. The kinds of stories that donโ€™t just inspireโ€”they recalibrate how communities, workplaces and media understand later life.

And thereโ€™s more to come.

We’re just getting started.

Weโ€™ll continue publishing across the website, social platforms, and emerging audio channels, shaping a more consistent and accessible voice. The narrative gap is still there, and it’s worth closing.

Thank you for being here early.
That matters more than you might think.
