What did you say? Hear me now…

Good ear health is about more than just protecting our ability to hear; it’s about enhancing communication, maintaining social connections, and safeguarding our overall well-being.

Hearing is one of our most vital senses, connecting us to the world through conversation, music, laughter, and the subtle sounds of life that often go unnoticed.

Yet, hearing loss is an increasingly common issue, affecting people of all ages and often creeping in so gradually that it’s easy to overlook.

For many, hearing aids offer a life-changing solution, reconnecting to loved ones and enhancing quality of life.

Modern hearing aids have come a long way, combining advanced technology with comfort and convenience. What you consider when choosing the right things to support your hearing health can take research… and in a very competitive industry, it can get confusing.

There are a large number of audiology clinics and service providers in South Australia and you might think they all offer the same products and service… by choosing an independent audiology service such as Can:Do Hearing, which is also a social enterprise supporting Can:Do 4Kids, you’re taking positive steps towards your hearing care and making a positive contribution to your community.

HSP clients have the added benefit of a year-round maintenance program.

Maintenance programs ensure their clients are covered for cleaning of devices, in house repairs, repairs to devices outside of warranty periods and consumables to keep their devices in tip top shape.

The Commonwealth Government Hearing Service Program (HSP) manages the delivery of hearing services and subsidised hearing aids to eligible clients. If you hold a Centrelink pension card or a DVA Gold Card or White Card specifying hearing, you are eligible.

Can:Do Hearing audiologists have specialist accreditation to perform hearing assessments for:

  • Hearing Services Program (HSP)
  • Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

How is your initial HSP appointment paid?

If you are on a pension or are a veteran, all hearing tests, base level hearing aids and yearly check-ups are all subsidised by the government through this Hearing Service Program (HSP).

Each ear health assessment is tailored to your needs regardless of your client status ie HSP or Private, but unlike many providers, Can:Do Hearing offer a full audiological assessment for all, which may include:

  • Visual ear examination (otoscopy)
  • Middle ear function testing (impedance testing)
  • Outer hair cell function testing (otoacoustic emission testing)
  • Pure tone audiometry (air and bone conduction)
  • Speech audiometry (in quiet and in noise)

After your assessment your Can:Do Hearing audiologist spends time discussing your results and how they relate to your concerns. They’ll offer recommendations based on the outcomes you wish to achieve and, most importantly, with this information and guidance, you decide on the right management plan to best achieve your goals.

Definitely a good starting point if you need your ears checked.
