Some people measure time in milestones; Ron measures it in horsepower, sneakers, and stories.
A self-confessed car tragic, his heart apparently still beats a little faster for the reliable workhorses of the ’80s and ’90s, especially his beloved Honda Civic. The Civic isn’t just a car, he describes it like a companion, a marker of a life lived with steady reliability and quiet flair.
Ron recently took nostalgia out for a spin in the most literal way. He tracked down a pair of vintage sneakers on eBay. They are a perfect replica of those he wore in his photo from the ’90s.
We are referring to the photo in our header, of course!
The photo hangs proudly in the Vision Australia Radio Adelaide offices, retrieved from his garage to “brighten the office walls”. That it does.
Alongside the shoes he purchased to match those in the photo: he wears the same watch on his wrist, the same wedding band, the same beard and hairstyle, even the same unpretentious confidence in his stance.
He’s a friendly face, a helpful colleague and an easy conversationlist. On Fridays, you’ll find him behind the desk at Vision Australia Radio, quietly shaping and editing content. He doesn’t seek the spotlight, he fine-tunes it, like an old engine he knows inside out. Let’s face it, he’s part of the furniture at the radio station! A relaxed, comfortable sofa? No…. we jest, it’s the mix of craft, care, and continuity that makes Ron who he is: a man who understands that style, like substance, never really goes out of date.

Ron is semi retired, working part-time for Vision Australia Radio in Adelaide.
