Kay wasn’t having any of this passive language business: “A fall doesn’t impose itself on me. I accidentally fall!”

And there it was. The distinction mattered.
She wasn’t subjected to a fall. She wasn’t overtaken by gravity, as though gravity had some grand plan and she was merely an unwilling participant.

There is something wonderfully defiant about that. Even gravity wasn’t going to get away with taking the blame.
